General Overview

If you want great riding in Aspen, you only need to know two spots: Highlands and Snowmass. Highlands is only 5 minutes from the town of Aspen, which has a ton of local bars, nightclubs and a venue called the Belly Up offering live entertainment after a hard day on the slopes.

Specials: Parking is $10 per day, but if you go with four or more people in your car parking is free, so cram all your friends in the car like a can of sardines and head over to Highlands. The resort is known for its steep runs and is the local favorite.

Highlands is one of my favorite mountains - it's primarily known for deep temerity and the highland bowl, where you can expect steep and deep... a 15-30 minute hike is required for the bowl, but it's worth it! Great backcountry access here too, but a lot of it is very dangerous/avalanche prone.
