Silverton is awesome, and a one of a kind place - it's basically lift accessed backcountry terrain, with steeps, huge drops, and plenty of powder. Guides are required for most of the year.
Don't expect much in the way of lodging or nightlife, the town is a quirky old mining town - the hotels are pretty old, and there are only a few bars and restaurants.
one thing to note - the prices in the description only apply to the unguided riding (only available early and late season on limited terrain). During much of the year, you must travel with a guide, and this ticket ranges from $100-130. Even during the unguided season, you may have more fun with a guide, since they can access a lot more terrain.
Also - a beacon, shovel, and probe is required, but can be rented for $30.
