Canada is a huge and diverse country spanning the entire northern border of the United States from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. Its northern climate is renowned for picking up tons of snow and long ski seasons including a few glaciers that can be ridden during the summer months. The mountains with the highest elevations and biggest reputations are generally located in the west, although there are some real contenders in the eastern provinces as well. Canada is home to some of the best ski resorts in the world and being such a large country there is almost certainly something for everyone.
British Columbia:
The most popular resort in Canada is located in British Columbia. Whistler-Blackcomb is consistently ranked at or near the top of the list of best ski resorts in the world, but this is not the only destination worth checking out if you are here. In the eastern part of the province are the Kootenay Rocky Mountains with more than a few stellar resorts, Vancouver Island is home to some unique and impressive mountains and less than an hour drive from the largest city in the province, Vancouver, is the Coast Mountain Range which boasts some quality urban mountain resorts.
Snow: Wet by the coast getting drier and lighter the further east you go. |
