General Overview
Outsiders may not associate Copacababana and surf, but that is indeed the case. When there is swell, the break offers a very powerful wave frequented by packs of local bodyboarders. Be ready for a fast drop and look for the tube, because it's the only way out... Even when it’s small, there is always a good tube with a steep drop. Generally, it takes a big swell to light up Copacabana and be sure to check out "baixio" and "posto 6.” The best season is winter and when it's really big, posto 5 starts working and the waves there hold up to 12 feet! Enjoy the tubes... Oh and by the way, the nightlife there is world class.
