General Overview
La Torche is one of the most consistent surf breaks in Brittany due to its unique geographic position and exposure to the strong northwesterly Atlantic swells that regularly hammer the coastline. The beach break offers a 200m left wall and closer to the point a sometimes hollow right-hander. Due to it’s unique set-up a strong current the locals call "L'ascenceur" (the Lift) can be used with little effort to get out to the peak but don’t try to paddle against it, you’ll lose. Like all rips you’ll have to find a wave to ride in or if you’re without board swim away from the point and body surf in. When it’s going-off expect La Torche to be très plein with every kind of surfer and swimmer known to man, bobbing in the line up. In spite of chaos the locals are generally a friendly crew. A great wave but too well advertised. Secret Spot Policy
