Gulf Of Panama//
Foreign money and interests have been focused on this southernmost Central American country for some time now, but somehow, despite its abundance of surf and its budget friendly atmosphere, Panama is still not the surfing mecca you would expect it to be. Boasting un-crowded and sometimes very remote lineups on both its Caribbean and Pacific side, more than enough off shore islands to explore, consistent waves and warm water Panama has it all.

Gulf of Panama: With the right swell direction there are good waves to be had in the Gulf of Panama. Close to Panama City, it is worth it to check out these spots on your way north.

Health: Don’t drink unfiltered water, mosquitoes carrying diseases and other tropical hazards.

Crime: Most of the country is pretty safe, but remember tourists are always targets so stay aware. The eastern part of the country that connects with Colombia is pretty wild and not recommended for travelers although there may be some undiscovered waves there. The dense jungles do not have passable roads into Colombia and there is an abundance of military/guerilla types lurking around.
