General Overview
Pipeline is one of the most famous waves in the world and many countries nickname their best wave after this break. People from all over come to the North Shore of Oahu to experience this natural wonder, but it is the locals who have this place dialed. During a big west swell the wave is the definition of perfection, spitting big tubes and making reputations.
The right that breaks off the shallow reef is called Back Door.
The reef here is shallow and this is not a spot for beginners. Sadly, professional surfer Malik Joyeux died here in 2006.
