Maine is the end of the road and that road is open for some great surfing discoveries. Like all of New England Maine has a wide variety of stunning scenery, waves and weather conditions. Classic point breaks, lush river mouths, rocky reefs and beach breaks are all well represented. Maine surfers don’t seem to mind the brain freezing conditions especially when a strong swell rolls in and the grinding overhead sets are lined up. The water never warms up and heavy duty wetsuits, booties and a hood are the baseline for survival. After paddling out to the line-up during the winter months it could get a bit lonely. |
