New York//
Living just enough for the city? For most non-New Yorkers a bite of the Big Apple State conjure visions of the world famous skyline, deep concrete canyons, the lights of Times Square, traffic jams and of course the 8 million stories that live there. What is a surprise is the presence of an east coast tribe of NY surfers and the quality of the local waves available to them.

This diverse group of hardy wave riders constitutes a duel front: a well-established Long Island local surf scene and an urban surf crew willing to commute and add the appropriate layers of neoprene to catch a few. For these dedicated few that are feeling the need to get wet it's only an hours drive or a 30 minute train ride that gets you out of the big city to long stretches of beach, point breaks and reefs that offer a variety of quality surf.

This can mean a pleasant summer day of fighting the throng of beach goers from the city for a few little waves or an uncrowded, winter line up of freezing grinders out past a snow-covered beach. This is New York surfing.
