North Carolina's most popular and well known surf spots are located on the Outer Banks; a series of thin islands that line the northeastern part of the state. The southern beaches work well with southern swells and hurricanes, but because the Outer Banks stick further out they tend to pick up more swell. There is a strong surf culture here and some real talent has emerged as a result. The sand bars are always changing and there is plenty of opportunity to do some beach driving and find one to yourself. |
