North Island//
Lying about a thousand miles south east of Australia is New Zealand, an extreme sports haven and a country where you are never too far from the beach. New Zealand is made up of a network of islands with two primary islands, North Island and South Island. The climate here is maritime which means the weather is almost impossible to predict year round.

New Zealand’s unique oblong shape provides miles of accessible beach, shore, point and reef breaks and allows for cutting through from one coast to the other to ride the best breaks at the best times. The North Island waters are warm enough during the summer months (December to March) to trunk it but you’ll definitely want to suit up in South Island beaches. Kiwi beaches offer up everything from hollow barreling waves to pounding surf year round at popular spots like Ahipara, Gisborne and Raglan.

Health: The UV index is higher in NZ than most tropical destinations so wear ample sunscreen and protect your eyes with by wearing sunglasses.

Safety: New Zealand is one of the safest countries to visit but be sensible by staying in groups and not flashing your expensive gear or lots of cash. Be wary of rapidly changing weather which can bring about extreme conditions without warning.
